Today, more than ever, celebrities are flocking to tattoo parlors in an effort to express themselves. Body art has become an accessory to many such as pocket sized dogs and expensive purses. The number of celebrities with tattoos is on the rise. In the old days, it was prominently the metal and punk rockers and athletes that were heavily inked. Nowadays ink can be found on celebrity bodies from the cat walk, to the small screen, and to the red carpet and the big screen. However, not all celebrities heed the advice of picking the right tattoo that they won’t one day regret.

One of the biggest reasons that someone, including celebrities, goes into see a tattoo removal specialist is because they have the name of a lover inked on their bodies or maybe they have matching tattoos that were inspired by a romantic partner. There are plenty of examples of celebrities that have had tattoo regret for just this reason.

Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. Angelina has Billy’s name tattooed on her arm, while Billy had Angelina’s name inked his bicep. They were married for 3 years and divorced. Angelina covered Billy’s name with her children’s birthplaces while Billy covered Angelina’s name with an angel and the word “peace.”

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen. Denise had Charlie tattooed on her ankle, while Charlie had Denise tattooed on his wrist. They were married and later divorced. Denise had her Charlie tattoo transformed into a fairy while Charlie had his Denise tattoo lasered away.

Tom Arnold and Roseanne Barr. Tom Arnold had a whooping 4 tattoos of Roseanne, including a portrait of her face on his chest. Roseanne had a “Property of Tom Arnold” tattooed on her hip. Once divorced, Tom Arnold had all four of his Roseanne tattoos lasered while Roseanne had hers covered by another tattoo.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. They decided to go with a matching tattoo. They both had dice tattooed on their arms, Kevin’s blue and Britney’s were pink. These matching tattoos were to show all the love they had for each other. Once they were separated the dice disappeared from both Britney and Kevin.

Nick Carter and Paris Hilton. They weren’t together long, a short 7 months it took for these two love birds to have each others names inked on their bodies. Nick has Paris tattooed on her wrist while she had Nick tattooed on her bottom. She had her tattoo laser removed and Nick had his covered with a skull and the phrase “Old Habits Die Hard.”

Some other celebrities that donned their love by inking their skin include, Pamela Anderson, Kathy Griffin, and Johnny Depp. Pamela Anderson tattooed her ring finger to read “Tommy,” for the time they were together. That tattoo was later changed to “Mommy” when they split. Kathy Griffin also had a wedding band tattooed on her finger to signify her love. But once her marriage was over she decided it was time to toss out her ring, and have it laser removed. Johnny Depp who fell madly in love with Winona Ryder had no problem showing his love my tattooing Winona forever on his chest, only later to have it changed to “Wino Forever” when their love fizzled.

But having a lover’s name or a representation of a relationship is not the only type of tattoo regret felt by celebrities. They also have been guilty of getting images or sayings while young and later realizing that what they had tattooed doesn’t represent them anymore. Tommy Lee has an example of this with the swastika he had on his ribs. He decided that it was time to have it removed and that it was a hinder for his image. Tony Danza thought at one point during his young life that a tattoo that read “Keep on Truckin” was a good idea. He later had the tattoo removed when tattoo removal was first readily available.

Two rappers whose images are widely known and recognized for their ink, Pharrell Williams and 50 cent are both undergoing laser tattoo removal. They are both looking into other opportunities than being rapstars and they both believe that removing their tattoos will help improve their images. Even with the fame both men have from their musical talents, they have been denied other prospects with all of their ink showing, 50 cent with his acting career and Pharrell with his clothing line emerging.

These celebrities mentioned aren’t the only ones with ink they regret or may one day regret. There is a whole new list of celebrity couples that have gone through with getting inked with each other’s names or symbols of their love despite the history of former celebrities that have had to have their ex’s names or symbols removed.
